Experience

Michael Welsch — owner/designer for Michael Welsch Design — offers years of professional design experience. I started my career at Iowa State University where I graduated in the dean’s list with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. The philosophy of ISUs’s Graphic Design program was to teach the theories and practices of design, letting the designer choose the appropriate tools best suited for the task at hand. While at ISU I took paths that focused on information design and animation, including graduate level courses in the latter.

Work experience includes designer in a corporate communications office for Alliant Energy where I helped them make the branding transition from IES (Iowa Electric-Southern) to Alliant Energy. At Alliant Energy I got my feet wet for working in the professional workplace. Following that was Engineering Animation Inc. where I helped create art for Crayola and Warner Brothers children’s coloring book video games. At Engineering Animation I learned how to work as part of a team on a large project. Here I learned the difference between the work and educational worlds project paces. I also watched the project managers to see how large-scale projects are organized, tips which I took to my next job. This next move was to Spindustry Systems, where I quickly advanced from Web Designer to Art Director of the design department. At Spindustry my skills really evolved in the realms of design quality, budget, timeline, personal and departments workload management, presentation, and client interaction.

I have taken valuable knowledge from all these past experiences to mold Michael Welsch Design, a firm focused on delivering the best solution to fit your needs and budget. Contact me today to find out more.
